The food that we were able to eat, as usual, did not disappoint. Every dish was planned out meticulously from the bread and eggplant dipping sauce to the perfectly sweet and tart dessert. My halibut and short rib was cooked to the perfect temperature and the pumpkin lobster soup was heart warming. The service was where the magic was lost. My amuse bouche was served 12 minutes to me before it was served to my husband, we asked for utensils three times, I was not given the champagne that was supposed to be served with our tasting menu, and was given burnt food that the server tried to turn over to hide the burnt black marks. Let's hope the service improves, but if you have patience and would love a great meal, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
The calamari appetizer comes in substantial portions and with a delectable sweet sauce. The chicken and salmon entrees were both memorable with special sauces and ingredients. The creme brulee was of a good size and came with a cookie, berries, and a thick crust. Complimentary bread and hummus were both appreciated, and server offered a free refill. We will be back.
Hidden gem of Medford ! One of the best date night spots around. Their food is exquisite, one of the best chocolate/dessert martinis I have ever had. The desserts were also phenomenal.
Overall, a good place to eat. Fairly expensive. The food was good quality. As we're the drinks. Bartender did a good job making drinks, didn't smile at all during the whole 1.5 hours we were there. If you're looking for a small and higher end place to eat, this is a good place to go. Not much seating inside. Definetly call ahead and make reservation, specially on weekend.
Great food, service and outdoor seating! Every time we walk by this restaurant we always tell ourselves that we NEED to try it out. Well, tonight, we finally did. Our server Gabriella was friendly and efficient. Outdoor seating was really good and allowed for private conversations (there is a commuter rail across the street but it’s not too frequent). The gnocchi was fantastic - love the truffle oil and mushrooms. Oysters were only a dollar each so that’s a great deal. The appetizers were a little underwhelming for our tastes. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!
Delicious !! Truly everything from apps to dessert was awesome! We had the octopus app - yum yum - and had the option of shaved black truffle to our main meals! I want the recipe for the olive oil cake - ten times better than the one I make!❤️
great desserts - can’t go wrong there. enjoyed the polenta. most of the entrees are mid. usually not too busy, and lots of pretty decor
I've been to Bistro 5 a couple of times now and really enjoyed it. It has a nice bar scene and little buzz and is a great place for a group of friends or family to meet and linger. The layout is a little crammed but so amiable it doesn't detract. Service can be a little erratic and slow, but lovely people and if you can relax and enjoy then it's great. The weekly burger night is fun and definitely worth a visit. Buck a chuck oysters on Tuesday are also terrific. Great cocktails (among the best in this area), a nice wine list and interesting beer selection (including local Lord Hobo options).
Last night the special truly lived up to the name and should be a review in its own right. Perfectly cooked lamb, with fennel bulb, pickled rhubaeb, chiles and an exceptional lemon-cardamom sauce. I will dream about this dish for years to come. I added a star for this alone.
Every town should be so lucky to have a local joint like Bistro 5.
